Whereas there have been improvements in physical therapy technology, it has been minimally used by practitioners who are still using traditional techniques. Currently, therapeutic programs are solely created and monitored by the physical therapist, only while the patient is at the clinic. However, given that therapy is a daily activity, patients are often tasked to continue with their exercises while at home without medical supervision which could lead to injury or delay in recovery.

 

GeoHealth (Geometric Awareness for Health) aims to provide therapists and patients with real-time objective Artificial Intelligence guided biofeedback in a continuous feedback loop both at the clinic and at home. Receiving real-time biofeedback would improve the patient’s quality of care. Using information logged in the system, it allows physical therapists to enhance their patient’s treatments while reducing the amount of time involved and giving direct AI guidance to the patient. The motion capture and biofeedback algorithms will analyze and give direction for physical improvement. Biofeedback will be given in a visual context through the application by using overlays on the recorded video that will be fed back to the patient through augmented reality google and thus allowing for more intuitive self-correction. For physical therapists, the recorded video of patient therapy routines will allow for better insight into the recovery process.
